Working with an Intern vs. a licensed professional

In California, Marriage and Family Therapists who complete their Master’s training are eligible to take state licensing examinations and/or be licensed to practice independently only after they have secured 3,000 hours of professionally supervised experience. As such, I am currently working under the supervision of Jeffrey Chernin, Ph.D., MFT, in his private practice to accrue my hours. Aside from an education at California State University, Northridge, where I earned a Master’s of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, I currently have over 2,500 hours of experience providing counseling and psychotherapy to individuals, couples, families, and children.

A Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, while completing the hours required to become licensed, can provide psychotherapy to you at a reduced and affordable sliding scale rate. Aside from the benefit of my expertise, you will also receive the advantages of my supervision with my supervisor, who has over 14 years of clinical experience.
